==> MAYFIELD APPLICATION
Name: Jasmine
Personal Journal:
Contact Info: madoka magica (AIM) and here is a contact page!
Other Characters Played: None!
Preferred Housing: Since this is my first DW RP, let's go random so I can get fully involved and I don't want to show too much bias for my cast!
Character Name: Roxy Lalonde
Character Series: MS Paint Adventures (More specifically, Homestuck)
Character Age: 15
Background: Bio complimentary of the MSPA Wikipedia!
Personality: When first introduced as tipsyGnostalgic or TG in chat logs, Roxy seems to be a pink-font using flirty and blunt friend of Jane Crocker. Her knack for typoing and pulling no punches was witnessed in the first pesterlog (instant message chat) with Jane right off the bat. Roxy is assumed at first to be a bimbo airhead who has a love for alcohol and wizards, but in truth, she is much more than a cheap joke.
Despite her flirty attitude and self-assertive nature, Roxy is actually really selfless. In almost every occasion, even if she tends to have a groan or two about it, she is there for her friends when they need it. One of the biggest things Roxy has shown is her dedication to her friends. Roxy's situation (which will be vaguely touched upon near the end of this application) is rather ... unique in terms of who she had befriended. She will usually be the first person to cross-pester another, socializing and attempting to find information to fix the problem or help another out. She is a teenage girl with limitations on romantic interest, yet in the end, she is okay with it. As witnessed below, Roxy admits that she does not even look at Jake English in a romantic nature because of her best friend's (Jane's) feelings for the dashing chap.
TG: but joking oh no i think not TG: u dont think that if i didnt say he was off limits on account of you being my best friend TG: i wouldnt be all the hell over that???? TG: daaaaamn TG: that rugged senseof adventure TG: the delightful silly vernacular thats like TG: weirdly and bewitchingly not self aware TG: those adorbable teeth TG: swoooooooooon <3 GG: Nooooo, stop. :( TG: well shit jane TG: what am i even supposed to do TG: i cant hit on anybody and appaprently i can entertain nary a frisky THOUGHT about anyboby because apparentley evrybodies OFF LIMITS!!!!! TG: *buncha goddamn typos TG: shit suuucks |
Respectfully, a main aspect of her personality is her humor. Since her introduction, she has been quick to tease and poke at the obvious ongoings of Jake, Dirk, and Jane. Regardless, that does not mean she is above teasing herself. She'd often roll with her hilarious typos, either refusing to fix them or taking on the word as somewhat of a signature catchphrase. Laid back and easy going, the girl often attempts to give an odd drunken-wisdom to her friends when they are in need of advice and is not above giving "tough love" when the situation calls for it. From prodding Dirk for information or teasing Jane about being a "tight ass", she loves her friends dearly but is not above seeing the silliness in some of their problems.
Snarky and bitter towards her life, it is revealed that Roxy lives in the year 25th century with Dirk. Raised in a carapacian colony styled after a checkerboard, Roxy was not raised by her mother. It is revealed that her Mom and Dirk's Bro were killed by the Batterwitch (Her Imperious Condescension or Betty Crocker) during a rebellion. They have been living in isolation from human contact most of their lives, as they are the presumably last two humans left on Earth. However, she is bitter at the Batterwitch's uprising and the role it has taken over in her life. While constantly attempting to warn Jane about silly things, she is a bit bitter that she can not speak the entire truth until the right time in fear it may corrupt the timeline. She is not happy to lie to her friends and it has overly frustrated her at times, causing her to be flat out sarcastic and almost mean.
A drinker, it is shocking that she seems to have her own ramblings about conspiracies with the Betty Crocker company. In all truth, due to her knowledge of the history from her "future" standpoint, she is rather wise in the subject, knowing the cold hard facts as well as the information left to her from her guardian. Her advice, whether serious, friendly, or romantic in nature remains out of the purest intentions to make sure things go smoothly.
Roxy, at her core, has many quirks to her but she remains a normal teenage girl.
As mentioned, she is flirty, blunt and somewhat dramatic. However, she is also sneaky (in a non-harmful or cruel way) and Roxy is quick to drop not-so-subtle hints or slips of her tongue foreshadowing her knowledge of the future, due to living in it. Yet, Jane and Jake pass it off as her simply being drunk. This is a sneaky move, conscious or accidental, because she absolutely hates keeping her mouth shut about the subject. Originally, this trait was shown as Roxy attempted to use mind games by calling Jane a "chump" for wanting to get the game, discouraging her forwardly on playing the Alpha version of SBURB, knowing it was what the batterwitch wanted.
She will often make sexual innuendos, knowing they do not lead anywhere (especially with Dirk's Auto Responder AI). It seems she has taken the role of the figurative "bridesmaid never the bride" role, idly complaining that she is just a girl looking for a boyfriend.
She has an affection for cats that is obvious after the untimely death of her pet Frigglish.
She is intelligent, more so than anyone else could believe. A self-proclaimed "haxor", she is able to program and overall crack computer programs. Through this way, she is able to give Jane a corrupted file of what is lead to be believed as SBURB, which, it actually is not. The file in question was actually stolen from the Crocker Corporations website. Roxy spoke arrogantly of how easy the task was, coyly pondering if it was if the Condesce wanted her to do it all along.
Science is a hobby of hers, specifically with molecular transportation. Having several planes that allow transportation in her residence, it seems she has a basic, if not advanced knowledge of how to operate such things. During her experiences with transportation, she also was able to fiddle in ectobiology. An accident gone wrong, her deceased cat was cloned (and multiple times) due to her fingertips dipping into the figurative honeypot of ectoslime. With this fact, she has experience but perhaps not a complete understanding of the science process that coincidentally started the whole story of Homestuck.
The wizards left in her residence are hand-me-downs from her Mom. Her Mom was a best-selling writer of wizardy fiction and an avid lover of them herself. Roxy has memorabilia in her room that reflect this interest.
Cliche as it is, she likes to consider herself a gamer. One that is fond of more retro and classic gaming. It is implied her favorites are SNES-era or the equivalent in her time. The consoles displayed in her room are pink, of course.
Uniquely enough, as Dirk has his ability to be awake on Derse and his normal life on Earth, Roxy has the misfortune of being a sleepwalker. Floating through Derse, she has stumbled upon Dream Bubbles and somehow managed to meet Rose, her "Mom", which actually is her daughter in the Pre-Scratch universe. Roxy states that she is able to recall her dream on Derse/the Dream Bubble, showing her drunk wisdom as it being a "future dream" of meeting Rose.
Abilities: Roxy does not have any "abilities" per say that would be brought into Mayfield. Besides the use of Riflekind and Fistkind that is effectively her "signature" fighting style, there is nothing really anything to specifically note.
Sample Entry: [ There was easily a burst of aroma filtering its way into the desolate hallway. With the absolutely stupid hallpass clutched into her hands, Roxy Lalonde's saddle shoes scuffed against the neatly polished floor beneath her feet. It was a hurried rush, one to get out of her class and just relax. School wasn't her thing and the soft groan past her lips while she pushed the girl's bathroom door open was proof enough of that. It was displeasure at its finest. The blonde had found herself in front of the mirror, inspecting the overly curled ends of her hair and making sure the bobby pins at her scalp were still intact. The 'aroma' in question, belonged to the ends of some now put out cigarettes that rested carelessly in the sink next to her. Roxy didn't mind them, noting that some kids tried to break the clean cut routine as bluntly as possible. Yet, her mind was elsewhere, focusing on the dimly lit reflection of what felt like a complete stranger. ]
What're you doin' Rox? You tryin' to be lil Miss Muffet or something? This place is a totes lamesville and that time I wasn't even trying to use the damn lingo.
[ Another sigh slipped past the cracked and roughened lips she chewed nervously. It had been a few days, if not weeks, since she had time to inexperience a cool drink. Not the juice kind, either. ]
You don't belong here. You're not some Stepford Wife goodie two shoes. Fuck, you think tryin' to be a perfect daughter is going to pay off? Your mom ain't here to save you, real or not. Shit, who am I kidding, I'm talking to my own damn reflection.
[ Fuck her curls. Her hand moved to push the thin strands back out of her vision. Her gaze was focused, yet tired eyes fell upon the cold reflected glass a bit more bitter than she would have hoped. ]
Why do you like this school? It's full of fuckin' dorks and the rules are flat out retarded. A 7PM curfew at home and getting out at like 6PM from classes seems a bit fuckin' lockdown code red type shit. Thick wool sweater vests and skirts to your tiptoes. Really? Get real. Ugh. C'mon Rox, Rox, Rox, Rox. This isn't home so stop acting like it. These people aren't your friends. You're not crazy, just confused.
[ Maybe it was her going through problems regarding the lack of constant alcohol. Maybe it was the confusion in her head. Roxy turned, looking at the cigarette butts as she stopped her speaking. No one had come in or seemed in the bathroom. All it was, was a very confused and lonely girl getting something she wanted: a chance at a family (or so it seemed). And how did she react? Like an ungrateful brat. She huffed, fixing one singular ringlet in her hair before pressing her cold palms against the wood of the bathroom door. Back to class. Freakout number four of the day was over with. Next period, she'd recall, was music appreciation. Let's see how she'll fair in that. ]

Naturally, I can and will tone everything down. But, nervous jitters makes me write oceans of words. Um, also just in case, I have some posts I've done in Bakerstreet, but they're kind of longer. I have a really bad habit of being too detailed, I suppose. Ironically, all with the 3 other Alpha kids, aha. I think these picks are heavy on dialogue, since having a character's "voice" is rather important. Just putting this juuuust in case! Sample One / Sample Two / Sample Three
